When I made a list of Wardrobe Staples last year, I was intent on getting a Mac even before they became "on trend" for Spring and I decided that I would have a look on ebay for one - big mistake. I am fine selling on ebay but rarely do I buy anything and certainly not clothes for myself, but thought that should change, in an effort to save money.
I found one, placed a bid at the last minute and then waited for about a week for it to arrive. I paid £7 postage and packing, missed the parcel because I was at work. Collected it from the Post Office to find that it had cost the seller £2.70 and was bemused that the package was round. When I managed to fight my way through the brown tape it was evident that the coat had just been sent in a carrier bag, inside another carrier bag and that the parcel was round? The Mac had been put the bag and then formed into a round parcel which meant it was screwed to fuck. I was so bloody angry, I can't even bring myself to try it on and just don't want it at all. It will go in one of those Charity bags that come through the door and I shall be leaving negative feedback or maybe even asking for my money back.
Disillusioned, I looked online for one and found a Kaliko Trench reduced from £130 to £31.50 on House of Fraser in the Clearance section. I have ordered it. It looks quite long and I wanted a 3/4 one really but if it fits I can always get it taken up a bit and you know how I love a bargain. I have never bought anything from Kaliko before, have any of you? or do you have any ebay horror stories concerning clothing? Have you got a Mac or do you intend to buy one for Spring?
Have you looked in Mango, Debenhams or even M&S Autograph collection? The Kaliko mac does sound like a bargain - but I find in my past experience I cannot get coats taken up (something to do with the linings) and not as easy as shortening jeans.
ReplyDeleteHow annoying!! You should complain.
ReplyDeleteVery irritating!
ReplyDeleteLOLA:)
PS A Mac is an essential clothing item here in Spain pro tem! Doubt if any are left in the stores!
Hi there-sorry to hear of the bad experience on Ebay, but don't let it put you off totally as not all sellers are like this. Ask for a partial refund on the postage, sellers like to hike it up and say its packaging too, but she obviously didn't pay for carrier bags, LOL! If she refuses, then give her the negative feedback-just try and get some funds back first!!
ReplyDeleteSharon is right you should give the seller the opportunity to make good the money on p&p and apologise for being stupid. Also you could have taken it to the dry cleaners!
ReplyDeleteThat is just too bad... sometimes the packaging really suck. Did you complain?
ReplyDeleteTry Mango or Zara, they have a wide assortment. xoxo
Sorry about your experience on ebay. After a couple of similar issues, I've given up looking for clothes on ebay. The worst is when they say "new" and you get an item absolutely stinky. I've got an old Burberry Mac that I bought on sale a few years ago but still looks pristine. The Kaliko looks really nice though. Hope you'lle be satisfied with it. Ciao. A.
ReplyDeleteThat is so off. How can people be so bloody cheap and chav? You should definitely ask for your money back. Sorry it didn't work out but I'm sure that for every crap ebay seller there are loads of great ones. I've never bought clothes from there but after reading about other peoples great finds I may give it a go! x (As you can see I'm finally getting around to a bit of blog catching up!) x
