Not only is a holiday or sun hat essential to help prevent you from getting sun stroke or burning the parting on your head (I've done this a few times!), they also give a stylish edge to the most simplest of daytime outfits whether on holiday or at home.
Choose Trilby's and Panama styles to go with shorts, t-shirt and flip flops and larger glamorous or cowgirl styles with maxi dresses (although maybe not as large as Samantha's).
Either wear it to the airport, or pack it by filling it with bikini's or underwear and placing it in the middle of your case and pack the rest of your clothes around it, to prevent damage.
Lots of great styles on sale if you haven't already bought one. Check out my favourites below.....
Miami Trilby - Was £25 now £12.50, French Connection
Panama Hat was £49 now £25 from Planet
Large Straw Hat by Pucci was £220 now £88 at net-a-porter
Straw Stetson £15 from Miss Selfridge

I love a great hat. Thanks for this post.
ReplyDeleteHi I am going to do a post about hats .. when I can smile again ..not attractive look grinning with temps.
ReplyDeleteI love hats , and as I drive with the top down whenever I can, I need to wear one not just to keep the sun from burning me but also to keep my hair out of my lipgloss.
Fedoras are my favourite .. I also love a cowboy and a Trilby .. Great tip by the way for packing xx
A hat is a must. I could do with one. I like the Panama.
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago a girlfriend lent me a hat almost identical to Samantha's for my holiday. It was some expensive designer thing. I nearly got caught out on a few doors with it. I only wore it once, it was just too big. One of the seams split on the brim so when I got home I took it to my dry cleaning lady who also sews. For some mad reason she dry cleaned it after she'd sewn it up and didn't tell me at the time. When I gave it back I couldn't work out why it had shrunk and didn't fit my friends head anymore. As soon as I worked out what happened I had to own up as she started to think her head had grown in the two weeks I'd been away xx
You know, I never wear hats, but I absolutely love them. Let's bring them back.

Have a great day my friend..HHL
I love these hats and they are great for keepig the sun off your head. I have just ordered a nice trilby with a big flower for holiday. Unfortunately it was too small. I must have a big head
ReplyDeleteChristina - that story is so funny, I have never laughed out loud so early in the morning!
ReplyDeleteHHL - Thanks honey, will check it out later xx
Love the french connection trilby.
ReplyDeleteWah... I want to wear a straw hat - my bloody head is too big! I had one once that I found at a market that happened to be big enough but it got trashed after ten days in the Bahamas. Do you know where I can get one? It needs to be a place that sells sized hats - one size may fit all but not in my case! And great packing tip by the way - I ended up carrying mine last time xxx
ReplyDeleteFortynotout - I too suffer from a surfeit of head (sorry, brain) and hats just look like peas popped on the top of my bonce.
ReplyDeleteWould love to be the sort of woman who wears a hat confidently. Hmmm - perhaps a goal for July for me!

I'm currently obsessed with Panama hats. I also love the hat that Samantha is wearing. xoxo
ReplyDeleteJust saw your comment and had to pop back in to vote - but the link isn't there. I see where it should be, but it's not a live link. And I know what you mean about not having time to read - some days I only have time to sneak in a page or two...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up (chortle chortle) about that Panama hat from Planet. It's exactly what I've been looking for for my holiday! x
ReplyDeleteFNO - suggest you go for a mans hat if buying online, I can't believe your head is that big!
ReplyDeleteFT - I've had my eye on that for ages, if The Outnet has nothing for me tomorrow, I am gonna get it,it my fave for sure. My Claudia buggered up my Trilby on her hols in Cyprus, she tried to hide it from me when she got back last night - its all bent!
Great packing tip! I love hats but never end up wearing them! You got my vote by the way! e xx
ReplyDeleteThese are all great picks! This post has given me inspiration to increase my summer hat collection from 1 to many : )

ReplyDeleteGood tip to buy a man's hat - I too suffer from a larger head (obviously brain is to big ;))Will head to GAP mens dept this weekend. x
ReplyDeleteI'm such a hat's lover!!! I always find one to buy but I mostly never use them because here everybody stares at me. So now when I think about a new hat I look to my husband face and I can see some kind of reprove on him and most of the time I leave them back.
ReplyDeleteOh I've nominated you!
xoxo
I took a hat very similar to that Pucci one (but a fiver from Matalan!) on holiday with me, and today I had to throw it away as it was so creased and knackered! You get what you pay for, I guess!
