With a few hours to relax on a Sunday afternoon, what is a girl to do? Keep up to date with the tweets regarding our home grown Vicky B and her dress presentation at New York Fashion Week thats what!
Excuse the pictures they have been pinched from tweets so are not of the best quality....
In addition to a black dress from her own collection, Victoria accessorised with a classic Rose Gold Rolex and Brian Atwood heels (as usual)...
Turf Ball backdrop (WTF?)
Front Row, Fashion Editors from The Times & Instyle ( I bet no bloggers get invited to VB's intimate presentations eh?)
The dresses....nothing shocking here, it is all pretty much what we expect from VB, this could so easily be her last presentation in February if you blink quickly!
and wait for it.....
the bags!.......
I guess it was only a matter of time before Victoria introduced bags into her collection after starting out with jeans, sunglasses and finally, extremely expensive frocks! The collection appears to include clutches and travel bags as well as lady like hand held styles and the thought of how much they will cost, seriously scares the shit out of me! A Hermes will probably seem cheap by comparison if her dresses are anything to go by!

Would you buy a Victoria Beckham bag? or would you stick with the brands we know and love like Chanel, YSL, Fendi, Chloe, Alexander Wang, Mulberry etc ?

If I honestly could afford a designer bag I would buy a Mulberry Alexa bag or a Fendi clutch. Vicky B has done really well with the media exposure (and celebrity friends wearing her dresses has helped) for her collection but to be honest I sometimes feel she really uses the style style as Roland Mouret. However her dresses are far better that the ones designed by Alex Gerrard for Forever Unique.
ReplyDeleteI would not buy one one principal.. and it would be too expensive.. I like her dresses, but do feel they are very RM in styling ...the white dress is lovely though xx
ReplyDeleteYes I have always thought they are very RM in their styling and wondered how she got away with it at first! Yes I think she aims a bit higher than Alex Curran for Forever Unique, I saw that range when looking for a party dress for Claudia and thought I would do a post about it, so thanks for reminding me!
ReplyDeleteI was initially leery about VB's line because I feared she might be merely trading in on her celebrity, but the dresses really impress me. She actually designs well and I read in The New York Times that she's mastered many of the technical aspects of the business. Good for her. And thanks for showcasing her new stuff!
ReplyDeleteNo, no and thrice no to a Victoria Beckham bag for me I'm afraid. For me is and always will be first and foremost an ex Spice Girl and a WAG, however much she's tried to reinvent herself as a designer.
ReplyDeleteI think Victoria is amazing, I dont know her (but I met her once when she used to live near me) but I just feel so proud of her. I was actually admiring her sunglasses in HN's and they were just so original. I would love to see more of the bags, though I doubt I would ever afford one. I know her dresses are insane in price but I think perhaps she has done that to put herself so far away from your usual 'celeb designer' stuff. She is such a smart business woman to have the entire A list throuwing mega bucks at her, youve got to admire that! With regards to RM I think you could say that about McQueen if you want to compare fitted dresses I think she designs in her own way personally. Ok I shall stop with the VB love ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou go ahead with the VB love Pearl, I am shocked you are a fan, but hey ho, nobody can take away what she has achieved and the sunglasses are something else, I remember blogging about the gold lenses a while back, expensive though!
ReplyDeleteI think that the frocks are very pretty, but they do remind me of the RM dresses - and I don't know a hell of a lot about anything fashionable.
ReplyDeleteBags. Seems like another way to make a lot of money for little effort or materials imo.
I wish her every success with the frocks and, yes, even the bags, because I'm sure she's a nice person who works hard at what she does.
But it's not for me - not in this decade lol!

Great post!
ReplyDeleteI echo most comments thus far ~ I think its great that she is managing to cultivate a piece of the fashion industry for herself. As for purchasing her brand ~ probably not... in these times one has to be sensible with purchases.

I would be an absolute no. I'm not keen on VB, I think I've commented before that I personally think she's a bit of a fashion fraud. I just don't think she has any style of her own. But somehow she seems to have slipped through the net into high end stuff. Beats me. e xxx
