I hope this post finds you gearing up for the Jubilee celebrations with a few well deserved days off. We don't have any street party planned, as the 11 year old son said "well we couldn't really could we mum, imagine one table leg in one pot hole and trying to fit another leg in the next". That's the joys of living on an unmade road for you! Oh well, I will be happy to relax and hopefully nobody will want their legs waxed or a fake tan for a few days at least!
Little Man has a jubilee barbecue at school today and a text message from the secretary requesting that the children wear red, white and blue for the day, meant a last minute dash to town to find something suitable for him to wear. I managed to grab a cheap pair of shorts in Peacocks that fit the bill nicely, although I did have to put my sunglasses on and my head down as I left the store, just in case anybody was around that knows me, the shame of it!
I was moaning to my friend Susie this morning (nothing new there then) that whenever the children are requested to wear an outfit of a certain colour on a non school uniform day for whatever reason, it is always a colour that they don't seem to have in their wardrobe, or is that just my kid?
Meanwhile mummy got something new in the form of a beautiful new dress from Stanwells Boutique which will get a blog post all of its own next week. In with my parcel were some lovely little perfume samples. As most of you know I am an advocate of using mini sized or gift with purchase products to take on holiday, so these will be perfect for this summers holiday packing challenge and they smell divine plus I think its nice to have a perfume which isn't too well known. If I had a pound for every mum down the school who wears Thierry Mugler's "Angel", yes you guessed it, I'd have my 2.55 by now and Angel is so passée, I wore it when it first came out about 15 years or so ago. Well until somebody emailed me in the office and asked me to refrain from wearing it as it gave them a headache. Killjoy.
More lovely weather meant I went for sunshine nails this week......
and then I got yet another new nail polish by Ciate worth £9, free with July's Marie Claire.......
I also treated myself to some new bedding from Bedeck. Lorien first blogged about this range and his love of Duck Egg coloured bed linen here and when I clicked through the link to find that it was reduced by 70%, it was a bargain I just couldn't resist and I have to admit it really gives my otherwise neutral coloured bedroom a completely different and more tranquil feel. Just putting the sheet and pillowcases on made me feel relaxed and I wanted to lie down and have a little nap before the Duvet cover even came out of the packet. I have wanted to utilise this colour in the home since it first became fashionable some years ago, so I know I am a little bit late to the "Duck Egg Party" but I am totally converted. Another colour I had fancied for the bedroom was grey and Bedeck now have this bed set whose pattern is based on the Harlequin Passion Flower range, in silver also reduced by 70%.
I was a little bit peeved to find out that the net-a-porter international sale had started this week but one can only hope it won't be too long before the UK one goes live but there are lots of other great sales and discounts for you to indulge your love of retail therapy this weekend:-
The House of Fraser two day brand event continues until midnight on Friday with up to 40% off here.
30% off shoes and accessories at Phase Eight here.
30% off at Dorothy Perkins here.

Label has fallen off, so I don't know what its called!
DeleteDuck Egg blue is my favourite colour too, love my king size bed set by Cindy Crawford. I have deocrated the new master bedroom hazletnut cream and Pensive Sky to match the bedding whether, I choose the gold bed set or the duck egg blue/brown and beige set.
ReplyDeleteHave a great jubilee weekend, I am off to a little soiree on Sunday, tea, cakes, bunting and champers with a few english chums!
Hope you have a lovely soiree this afternoon honey xx
DeleteI have a duck egg blue throw. I love your set.
ReplyDeleteMy children never have what's required! My youngest wore his Captain America t-shirt today as it had red, white and blue on it!
Enjoy your weekend.

Captain America came in handy! I tried to get him to wear his older sisters "Paris" t-shirt which has red, white and blue on it but he wasn't having any of it!
DeleteHappy Weekend! I love your new bedding ... looking for some myself. I know what it's like needing bits for school and I always seem to be told about it at the last minute!! Have a nice relaxing break, hope the sun sticks around:)

Avril has the same, she just commented, how funny!
DeleteDo a lot of people really still wear 'Angel'? I loved it when it first came out but soon tired of it. I really like Miller Harris fragrances and my current fave perfume is L'air de Rein.
ReplyDeleteI am exactly the same, I keep all of my beauty samples for travelling and have a huge washbag full of them. It's quite nice to have a sort through pre-holiday and find some little gems to try. The Bliss mini-sized products are quite nice for travel too.
Thank god I don't have children to fuss about Jubilee outfits. My sis had a mad dash to find a crown for my niece this week. I cannot cope with it!
Have a great weekend!

Surprisingly they do! I used to have an orange smelling one from Miller Harris loved it! Must try the l'air de Rein you mention haven't seen that anywhere x
DeleteThe orange nail polish is lush, I might have to treat myself to some. I've only just managed to grow my nails after a lifetime of biting at them, and it is so exciting!
ReplyDeletePenny Dreadful Vintage
Well done with the nails. Mine grow at a rate of knots, but I cut them short x
DeleteI used to wear Issey Miyake until my friend wore it and then this was followed by my mother in law. It's wrong to smell like your mother in law so I had to give that up. That was 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI had a look at the Stanwells boutique website. I have found my perfect summer dress. You bad lady!
Which one? come on spill honey!
DeleteOoh - The Shar Eyelet Voile dress by Velvet. Need to hold back. Wish I hadn't been so nosey! Lovely with my new Kurt Geiger Kook glitter sandals or the Krimble ones!
DeleteWe have the same bedding!! Great minds and all that :) It's gorgeous and totally brightened up our otherwise plain bedroom. Washes really well. Mine's a year old and it still looks great. Avril x
ReplyDeleteLove that! Although will try not to think of you as I get into bed tonight, its gonna be hard though lol xx
