I made the Delia Smith for Waitrose Cottage pie recipe which went down a treat! Sorry I forgot to take a picture when they came out of the oven (I made more than one) and were looking delicious! Personally I loved the addition of leeks on top of the mashed potato but my top tip would be to cover them generously with cheese as some of mine caught slightly, and the addition of cinnamon to the mince mixture gives it a welcome festive twist, although I think you could easily add a handful of mixed veg instead of the swede and carrot the recipe asks for. If you fancy trying it and don't get to Waitrose for the recipe card here is the link.
I was getting a bit fed up with all the Halloween hype, but caved in and bought a pumpkin in the end. It seemed the Trick or Treaters were being shipped in this year with many arriving in their parents cars, which was odd! Long gone are the days when my friends and I came back with bags full of pennies as opposed to lollies!
Thursday saw the obligatory Half Term haircut.....
and we finally went to see one of my favourite James Bond films so far! The way it cuts straight into the movie, then you get the intro with the fantastic theme tune by Adele, which I just can't get out of my head by the way, loved everything about this film!
and Friday saw the courier deliver me some new boots, so half term week ended on a footwear high! Can't wait to take these babies out for a crunchy autumn leaves test drive next week.
Have a great weekend my lovelies xx
I love a good cottage pie:) Your boots are fab ... enjoy the weekend!

Loving the boots! And what an epic pumpkin - wow!! Did you cut that yourself? I'm glad to be back to routine again come Monday….roll on Christmas! Axx
ReplyDeleteThanks Avril, can't wait to take them out next week. I had a bit of help with the pumpkin there are far more artistic people in the house than me for sure!
DeleteI'm glad to be going back to routine on Monday. I'm slowly going mad(der).
ReplyDeleteWe went to see Skyfall last week and my friend came out unimpressed. He said it wasn't a real James Bond movie - not enough action or explosions. I responded with, they blew up a Scottish Lodge and destroyed the London Underground - and that gorgeous Aston Martin. What more do you want? Men - they're never happy.
That pumpkin is ace.
Can't believe your friend said that, I certainly thought it was action packed!
DeleteThat pumpkin is amazing - did you carve that yourself? Love tbe boots, need more details (still catching up on my blog reading so apologies if you've already mentioned them). They look great.
ReplyDeleteI had a little help from a friend ha ha and no honey I haven't mentioned the boots yet, gonna take them for a walk tomorrow and report back!
DeleteGlad you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteLove the boots! Can't wait to see Skyfall. x
ReplyDeleteSame here but we managed to pack a lot in this week so can't complain. Cottage pie is a firm fav and I always put in lots of frozen mix veg and add more stock as we like it with more gravy than the traditional recipe says. My Boy also had a haircut and I'm hoping to see Skyfall this coming week.
ReplyDeleteYour pumpkin is great! x
Your boots are lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the boots .. can't wait to see more of them
