New Kicks On The Block

The last time I wore a pair of trainers during the day was circa 2000 when it was the "in thing" to team Adidas judo trainers with your Maharishi's. Now that is a trend I look back on with great affection. Fast forward ten plus years and the fashionista's footwear of choice, New Balance.

I have toyed with the idea of getting a pair for months now, constantly telling myself that I was too old for such a trend and to stick with what I know suits me best, ankle boots, ballet pumps etc but blogger images got me all "parisian chic" with their trench and peacoats, skinny jeans and trainers until I eventually convinced myself that there are enough batty old women in the world wearing sports shoes on a daily basis, so what difference would one more make?

Then my size came back in stock in one of my preferred colour ways and the deal was done.

Mine are the 420 style in navy and I have to confess it's been an awful long time since I have worn anything so comfortable.  Lots of people have asked about sizing, I took my usual size with no problem.

Frugal February is still in full swing, these were bought in January!

Honest opinions on a postcard please!

  1. Honestly, you look great! Would have liked a front view too. Hope you get lots and lots of wear out of them. My Gazelles have gone back (faulty) and the second pair have the same fault so I am impatiently awaiting a third pair grrrrrrrrrr!! x

  13. Sharron, you know I love you, love your blog, love your style ... can you guess where this is leading??!!! I just can't do the trainer/sneaker thing! I've tried, I've looked at all the pics and photos and pinterest, but they all leave me cold. But heigh ho, it would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing ... and I do love your bag :) (You did ask for honest replies, didn't you?!)

  16. Very nice. Debating getting some myself. I'm a Converse girl, have been and always will be, but I do really like the NB / Adidas style and the look with skinnies etc.

  18. Great colour and style. I recently bought New Balance trainers (a different design) for my aerobics class and I can't believe how light and comfortable they are. I remember when they used to be a brand for just very serious runners!

  21. I'll be honest, I really don't get the recent trainer craze. I like the pure white ones, they can be cool but the rest? Hmmmm. Just. Not. Impressed! Good luck with yours though, maybe I'll be convinced after a bit more exposure ;)

  22. Sharron you look fab and I am loving the new trainer craziness! It takes me back to my 20's in London - spending about a weeks wages on a pair of Nike's and then going to hip hop clubs to dance in them lol :-) Fun times.

I am deffo more into the trainer revival than I am the boyfriend jean! Loving them on everyone else but not so much on myself. x
