A Tale Of Two Hobbs Dresses

Freda Maxi Dress
Freda Maxi Dress £89 - -Hobbs here.

I've not really bought anything from Hobbs for the past few years, some brands just seem to fall off the fashion radar every now and then but my search for a dress for my daughters wedding saw me stumble across something on the Hobbs website that I knew as soon as I saw it, I needed it, although not for the wedding.  It was quite a strange purchase really as I don't usually wear much black in summer. I've moaned like hell about the amount of it around this season but I saw the black jersey maxi and was drawn to it because of it's short sleeves when the majority of summer maxi dresses are either thin strapped or sleeveless and I knew the jersey would be of great quality and weight and I wasn't disappointed.

It is quite long, as you would expect on someone of my height so I might wear some casual wedges with it but it is definitely a keeper and going to Marbella with me next week. It would look lovely on someone tall and slim and I promise to wear it with spanx for a more streamlined look!

A few days after the maxi dress arrived I was out shopping with middle daughter and still searching for that ever elusive dress, I came across another Hobbs dress. It was a dress that not only had I looked at online months ago but also one which a reader had suggested as a possible wedding option. When I saw it in the flesh I liked it more than I had on the website. 100% silk and with a huge reduction I grabbed it to try at home along with a couple of other options I knew would be arriving within the next couple of days and although I dissmissed it as my Mother of the Bride dress, my husband said I should keep it, so keep it I did.

The dress is a flattering bias cut and although it comes with a belt I wouldn't wear it, probably one of the reasons I was inititally put off.
It is sold out on the Hobbs website but it is available at John Lewis in sizes 10-16, Hobbs Foxglove Dress was £159 now £79 here and at House of Fraser in an 8-18 here. I think its a great dress for any summer occasion, weddings, christenings, the races or cruise especially being half price. If I had been wearing it to a wedding this summer I would definitely try and pack a punch by dressing it up with fuchsia pink accessories

Structured Bow Hat - Coast Was £45 now £31.00
Silk Bag - John Lewis £28
Addie Strappy Sandal - LK Bennett £180

They are worn by Nigella Lawson, and Kirsty Allsopp, a bit pricey, around £200 mark? Have a great weekend! xx
