New Hair, Don't Care

I've been thinking about having something different done to my hair for a while now. Not only do I bore fairly easily but it grows so quickly and I really have to keep on top of it getting too long to avoid the "mutton" effect. I've had it cut three times this year and on every occassion I have asked for two inches off. That's six inches and we are only in July! I remind myself of a "Tressy" doll I had as a child, I can't remember what you had to do to her to make her hair grow (my memory isn't what it once was) but loved the way the hair spouted out the top of her head!

I didn't want anything done before the wedding in case I hated it or thought it looked too short and silly with my fascinator and then when I looked through Red magazine and spotted the gorgeous woman in the first picture, I knew that was the style I wanted. I would also like her face if that is at all possible.

I worried about the upkeep and the use of ghd's as my extremely thick hair seems to hate them and breaks off at a tangeant even when I only use them once a week but in the hairdressers earlier today, I just thought "in for a penny, in for a pound" and took the plunge regardless. Apparently a Babyliss hair wand does the trick and is kinder to hair, so I may need to invest in one of those pronto! Mine doesn't look as waved as beautiful lady's but my hair is quite heavy so that is probably the reason. I still love it though and it is still long enough to tie up for work and when it's really hot and I need it off the back of my neck!

If you have any tips on great stylers to achieve the sort of waves I'm after, do let me know.

Have you had a few inches off lately?

  5. I so wish I had your hair, that style looks great on you. I seem to remember Tressy had a button on her back that made her hair grow.

  6. How funny, I snapshotted the same picture from Red when I was in the hairdresser last week as this is the colour I'm aiming for! Yours looks great btw :)

  7. New style looks great, as does your color! What are ghd's? Can you get that wave with a blow dryer? Try wrapping the middle of a hunk of hair around a brush, instead of the ends.

  8. The shorter length looks fab on you Sharron....if mine grew that quick I would try and leave it come down into a bob style, but I never have the patience!! Enjoy your weekend:)

  9. Upon Annemarie's (fashionmumof40) recommendation I let mine dry naturally then use a Babyliss tong (the large one) to tame the waves. It works really well. Good luck!

    1. Um trouble is my hair is so massive when it dries naturally, really wide and looks like somebody has crimped it but I will have to play around with it x

  13. Love your hair Sharron - I know I say it over and over again but you are so lucky to have such lovely thick hair. I've had a good couple of inches off mine just to make it look thicker! It's bugging me now how to make the Tressy doll's hair grow! By the way if this comment appears twice just delete one please - internet was playing up! xx

  14. Ooh love your new 'do', it looks great on you. I had a fair few inches off mine a while ago...mainly as the bleach had turned my hair to straw but am really pleased with a shorter length. X

  15. The style looks great on you. Just tell me, how is it possible you've had only 3 haircuts this year??? I have to have my hair trimmed every 4-5 weeks or it turns into a dry bird's nest (that's naturally curly hair, lovely, isn't it?)

  16. I LOVE your new hair style! It looks better than the model's - I think you need to have thick hair for this style. I have the opposite problem too little to do anything with and most it is grey/white! But it did feel lots better after at least 3" off on holiday. The hairdresser put some very subtle layers in that gave me some much needed shape/volume. Typical, I find someone wo can cut my hair properly and she's thousands of miles away from home. xx

  17. Ahh - the lady in the picture you are talking about is Yara from Chapter Friday blog. She has detailed how she went blonder and shorter in her blog and if I remember correctly, also some tips on looking after it. Go go go!
