There's A Breton Jim, But Not As We Know It

Don't even ask what part of my brain thought up that post title, I'm no Trekkie honest! So swiftly moving on, if you haven't already guessed, this post is about stripes, but stripes with a twist.
Nothing beats a take on a classic in my book, especially when you already have a wardrobe full of said classics but still need to feed your stripe addiction for autumn and winter.

The Boden Sparkle Collared Breton not only feeds that stripe addiction but a sequin one too. Can't go wrong with a bit of sparkle at the best of times, who ever said you couldn't wear sequins in the daytime was oh so wrong. Sparkle Collar Breton £39.

The MiH Breton Picture Top will work wonders for those afraid to wear bulk adding stripes. Personally I don't care but do love how this would have a slimming effect on one's torso. It's simple styling pairs perfectly with black jeans for a touch of daytime luxe. £130.

The Hotchpotch T-Shirt also from Boden does exactly what it says on the tin, but I love it and am all for the hotchpotch of florals, block colour and stripe sleeves. £39.

The ditsy frilled hem on the Alana T-Shirt from White Stuff lends it's self to casual daytime looks with a difference. The longer hem at the back will eliminate any need to ask "does my bum look big in this?" £35.

Also from White Stuff the Paint School Top offers a selection of red, blue and black stripes so if you can't decide which colour Breton to go for, this one ticks all the boxes. £35.

J.Crew have been king of the jewelled sweatshirt over the last few seasons so it was no surprise to find a sparkly stripe option. No statement necklace required. Was £88 now £59.99.

If you were a choosing a classic with a twist, which one would you go for?

  1. Love that MiH picture top Sharron....hope you're enjoying the week:)

  2. I love that J Crew one! I have way too many stripes already, am sort of on a stripe buying ban as far as tops go...

  3. I love the Boden collared one & the J Crew one is divine! I have an embellished grey sweatshirt that I wore loads last winter & loved it! Ax

  4. I'd definitely go for # 2--solid black with striped arms and stripe accents on upper and lower body---it's beautiful!!!

  5. It would have to be the J Crew for me, or the Boden sparkle collar. Beam me up spotty.

  6. The Boden one with a bit of sparkle. Just fabulous, everyday should gave some sparkle.

    X x

  7. I think Iam in love with the boden gold collar one! Xx

  8. I'd choose the Paint School Top Sharron - love the mixture of colours! xx

  9. Has to be the Boden one with the sparkly neckline - just perfect with no need for a necklace! Tho the mummy in me is wondering about washing it - lol x

    1. I have thought that about all of these 'jewelled' tops!!

  10. I have around 4 breton tops in my wardrobe - I will NEVER tire of them. I'm not sure what I think about a pimped up breton - it feels wrong to mess with something to timelessly classic!

  11. I may have bought the boden one! oops! but I love the Mih one and the J Crew one is so gorgeous, I must stop with the stripey tops, it's getting ridiculous. The good thing though is the hubby can't tell when I have a new one! X

  12. Definitely the Boden sparkly collar. Adds a little but of something to a classic look!

  13. Hi there. I like the Peter Pan collar on the first and the multi colored striped too. Actually any stripes get me going, love them all. I have two pieces of clothing with that frill thing on the bottom (Clu is the brand) and have loved them as they make your legs look longer and thinner.I have an argyle sweater that is cut up the side and sewed with a little gold and silver insert which I love

  14. I love a stripy top and these are fab, especially the gold collar one! But, being a Finn, I think you've got to go a long way to improve on a Marimekko classic Raitapaita. xx

  15. Love, love, love! Boden have nailed it.....they have a silver collared one too. Thanks for sharing, xxx
